LONDON, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Liverpool's Portuguese international forward Diogo Jota faces "months" out of action after suffering a knee injury at the weekend.

Jota was forced out of Liverpool's 4-1 win away to Brentford with the knee problem, with the injury coming just seven games after he returned to action from a muscle problem.

Speaking to the press ahead of his side's Premier League clash at home to Luton Town on Wednesday, Klopp said the forward could be set for a long time on the sidelines.

"For Diogo, it will take months," commented the coach.

"With injuries, you have important days; day five, day 10 is then when you judge the situation again because nobody reacts in the same way and it depends on the pain level they still have."

"I couldn't give you a time frame, even if I wanted to, so that's how it is," added Klopp.

The Liverpool boss' comments mean that apart from club matches, Jota will certainly miss Portugal's next international matches against Sweden and Slovenia in March and could mean he is a doubt for the European Championships, which start in June, with Portugal playing the Czech Republic and Turkey, along with a qualifier from the play-offs.
